The 2020 pandemic has had an enormous toll on the lives of people around the world. In response to the outbreak, governments and health professionals relied on math models to anticipate the consequences on human lives as well as health systems.
But how did scientists analyze the spread of the virus?
What mathematical models did they use, and where do they come from?
We built Pandemic by Prisms to help students develop and apply foundational algebra skills for long lasting and meaningful math learning. This module is not focused on the science behind the spread of a virus; rather, on equipping students with the central understanding of how we can use math to model real-world problems!
