Hell Pages

“Hell Pages” is a 2D side-scrolling shooter game with a horror background. We created something original and striking, but always having an excellent gameplay as our main goal , in order to keep the player on the edge of the seat. A well-balanced game, with a unique appeal on its story and graphics that, we hope, might leave the player wanting to play it over and over again, even after having finished it.
To do that, we sought inspiration in the best shmup games from the 80s and the 90s. We watched epic games such as Lords of Thunder, Thunder Force III, Thunder Cross, etc. We analyzed the mechanic of each of those games, their strong and weak points, to have some sort of guideline that might help us to achieve our goal.
"Hell Pages” have 10 stages with plenty of action, wonderful visuals, great music and awesome gameplay.
The game
In “Hell Pages”, we control an odd character: a mythological demon called Bael. After the breaking of a seal that protected the Earth against demonic forces, 10 demon armies take over the planet. As soon as they obtain full control over mankind, those 10 armies start a war to decide who's gonna be the supreme master of the Earth. Bael set out in a lonely battle against his enemies, leaving behind him a trail of blood and death.
Throughout the game, we have weapon and magic upgrades, save points and continues which could be bought at the store at the end of each stage. One interesting thing about “Hell Pages” is that each stage is based on several horror movies from the 80s and the 90s – so, those who enjoy those kind of movies will be able to find several references along the game.
